Intro / Project & Idea

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, my former school was unable to host its traditional open day for prospective students. To fill that gap, I was asked to produce a promotional film that could showcase the school remotely and help attract new students.

Although I had already graduated, I assembled a small team of friends and volunteers to help with filming. Over two days, we developed a detailed shot list and prepared our production plan. Once we received approval, I packed my gear and led the shoot — taking charge of all direction, cinematography, and on-site coordination myself.

Result

After shooting, I handled the full editing and post-production in DaVinci Resolve, organizing and refining the footage into a cohesive narrative. My friends joined remotely via Discord screen sharing, with audio routed through Loopback, allowing them to provide live feedback as I edited in real time.

For the release, I created the school’s first official YouTube channel, designed its banner using a still from the drone footage, and uploaded the finished video. I structured it with time-coded chapters and set the appropriate “Made for Kids” settings for compliance and safety.

The final film became the school’s digital open day, enabling them to reach potential students despite pandemic restrictions. It successfully bridged the physical gap with a warm, authentic presentation that reflected the school’s community and atmosphere.
