What is Sayra?
Sayra is a modular AI platform that allows organizations to digitize real people into interactive avatars.
Capable of live conversations, voice-based Q&A, AI-driven radio, and dynamic knowledge-sharing, Sayra is built as a modular platform that adapts to each organization’s needs. A platform that is growing and evolving alongside them.
Developed from the ground up as a multi-tenant SaaS, it offers a fully customizable experience with usage-based billing and a flexible structure designed to integrate new capabilities over time.
I designed, structured, and implemented this project end-to-end, combining UX/UI design, development, technical system architecture, and business logic to create a complete, scalable AI platform.
Approach
The idea for Sayra emerged during the design of Ballerina Küchen’s “Kitchen of the Future” showcase, where their spokesperson couldn’t be physically present. Rather than relying on pre-recorded videos or static presentations, the goal was to build a living, responsive experience: a digital presence that could speak, react, and inform in real time.
From there, the focus became making the experience as seamless as possible for the end user: no setup, no api settings, no technical hurdles. Interacting with Sayra should feel as natural as pressing play or starting an online video call.
I approached this challenge as both a designer and builder: mapping the user flow, designing the avatar experience, and structuring the platform to grow beyond this single case. Each decision was made to keep the technology invisible and the experience human.
The Platform
Sayra was developed as a modular, multi-tenant platform designed to adapt and expand with each client. Every organization runs in its own secure environment, complete with customized branding, avatar assignments, and usage tracking.
Under the hood, Sayra runs on a modern JavaScript stack built for speed, flexibility, and maintainability. The system integrates several independent layers that communicate through a central API, enabling seamless scaling and updates without downtime.
Frontend
Next.js (React framework) — for building the dynamic client dashboard and admin interface.
Tailwind CSS — for a lightweight, flexible design system that keeps UI consistent across companies.
TypeScript — ensures type safety, scalability, and reliable component interaction.
Spline & Framer Motion — for interactive 3D and motion experiences within the UI.
Backend
Fastify (Node.js) — handles routing, authentication, and real-time API communication.
PostgreSQL — relational database managing users, organizations, usage, and knowledge data.
Prisma ORM — schema management and query abstraction for fast iteration.
JWT Authentication — ensures secure user sessions and isolated access per tenant.
Infrastructure
Coolify — deployment, monitoring, and container management.
DigitalOcean VPS (Amsterdam) — main hosting environment for app and database.
Docker — containerized apps for scalability and isolation.
Cloudflare — CDN, DNS management, and SSL encryption for secure and optimized global delivery.

Sayra evolved from a single idea: creating a digital presence that feels human, into a complete, scalable AI ecosystem. The result is a functional SaaS platform where organizations can host their own interactive avatars, manage usage, and share knowledge through dynamic, branded environments.
For Ballerina Küchen, Sayra made it possible to bring their spokesperson into every “Kitchen of the Future” installation, even when they couldn’t be there physically. Visitors could ask questions, learn about the products, and engage with the brand in a way that felt immediate and personal.
Beyond this first use case, the platform has already been structured to support voice-only assistants, AI radio for stores and events, and knowledge-based content creation tools: all connected under one system.

Design & Experience

In practice, the user’s journey is intentionally simple: log in, choose an avatar, and begin a conversation: no setup, no friction, just interaction. For organizations, the experience is branded, measurable, and effortless to manage.
